Bruno Guimaraes has reached a verbal agreement with Newcastle over a new long-term contract.<\/p>\n
Mail Sport can confirm that the deal, which is yet to be signed, includes a release clause in excess of \u00a3100million. Newcastle will feel that protects them against an offer below their valuation of the midfielder.<\/p>\n
The Brazil international’s current contract runs until the summer of 2026 but, after making a significant impact since joining from Lyon for \u00a336m in January 2022, he wanted to be rewarded with improved terms. His new agreement includes a pay rise and expires in 2028.<\/p>\n
Guimaraes has played 63 times for the Magpies and has scored 10 goals, providing six assists.<\/p>\n
He was key in helping the club qualify for the Champions League and supporters will be relieved that his contract situation is approaching a conclusion. He had said there was \u2018doubt\u2019 in the summer.\u00a0<\/p>\n
