Francis Ngannou has expressed concern over Tyson Fury’s gloves as the duo prepare to meet in the ring in a cross-code heavyweight fight on October 28.

Fury’s former opponent Deontay Wilder previously raised concerns that the heavyweight champion didn’t have sufficient padding in his gloves prior to their trilogy fight.

Fury previously used traditional horse hair padding in his gloves that Nevada State Athletic Commission (NASC) officials confirmed were permitted to be used prior to his former contest with the American.

Ngannou has now issued similar claims that 35-year-old’s gloves ‘have no protection’ and demanded they be thoroughly checked before the pair meet in the ring in Saudi Arabia.

‘I have heard a lot of complaints about his gloves. His gloves have no protection,’ Ngannou told the Joe Rogan podcast.

‘When we get there, all of the gloves need to be checked.’

Fury is the big favourite heading into the huge-money showdown taking place in Riyadh, with Ngannou ditching the UFC octagon for a chance to make history in the boxing ring.

The 37-year-old has been training with former undisputed heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson in an attempt to land a knockout blow on Fury.

Ngannou holds the world record for the most powerful punch that registers at 96 horsepower and is a formidable opponent despite his lack of experience in the boxing ring.

However, the heavy-hitter believes Tyson’s training has helped him believe he can succeed in causing one of sport’s biggest-ever upsets.

‘He [Tyson] see’s me as somebody who can do this.

‘It seems like my journey was just preparing me for this moment. For the life that I am having now. You know the moment that I found out I was rich?

‘It’s not the moment that I check my bank account and see I have money, it’s not the moment that I own a house, it’s not the moment that I had a car, it’s the moment that I look and I check myself and I’m like ok what can possibly happen to me that I can’t handle that I haven’t seen and I say nothing.

‘I can handle everything. I can overcome everything. So therefore, I wasn’t afraid of anything… I am not afraid of falling because I know that I have the ability to stand up and that’s what my life taught me,’ he added.
