{"id":291754,"date":"2023-09-23T10:34:08","date_gmt":"2023-09-23T10:34:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tellmysport.com\/?p=291754"},"modified":"2023-09-23T10:34:08","modified_gmt":"2023-09-23T10:34:08","slug":"lionesses-fans-demand-sarina-wiegmans-side-to-get-off-the-bus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tellmysport.com\/soccer\/lionesses-fans-demand-sarina-wiegmans-side-to-get-off-the-bus\/","title":{"rendered":"Lionesses fans DEMAND Sarina Wiegman&apos;s side to &apos;get off the bus&apos;"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Lionesses fans DEMAND Sarina Wiegman&#8217;s side to &#8216;get off the bus&#8217; and greet them after their first match since World Cup final heartache<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>England beat Scotland 2-1 on Friday in their first match since the World Cup final<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><span>The Lionesses headed\u00a0straight into the team bus after match at Stadium of Light\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Supporters were left unhappy\u00a0and demanded they get off to greet them\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Lionesses supporters demanded the England side get off the team bus to greet them after Friday night&#8217;s\u00a0win over Scotland.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sarina Wiegman&#8217;s side returned to winning ways in their first match since their World Cup final heartache against Spain last month with a 2-1 victory at the Stadium of Light.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Two late goals in the first half by Lucy Bronze and Lauren Hemp ensured England kicked off their Nations League campaign in style despite late pressure from Scotland.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Players and staff headed straight into the team bus after the match, to the dissatisfaction of fans who were camped just metres away.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Footage from social media shows fans chanting &#8216;get off the bus&#8217; multiple times with the hope of meeting their heroes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/23\/10\/75755407-12552045-image-a-2_1695459945557.jpg\" height=\"455\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Lionesses fans were left frustrated after the players failed to greet them following Friday night&#8217;s Nations League win over Scotland in Sunderland\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/23\/10\/75755417-12552045-image-a-3_1695459990573.jpg\" height=\"428\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Sarina Wiegman&#8217;s side returned to winning ways after their World Cup heartache\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>The Lionesses have become national figures since their success over the last year, having won the Euros last summer and becoming the first England side to reach a World Cup final since 1966 in August.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>England fell short at the final hurdle as Spain lifted the trophy after a 1-0 win in Sydney, Australia.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In their inaugural Nations League match, Bronze opened the scoring with a diving header after a cross from Katie Zelem in the 39th minute.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hemp doubled the lead on the 45 minute mark with a diving header of her own after being found by Rachel Daly.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Scotland halved the deficit two minutes later through Kirsty Henson and despite creating some clear cut chances after the break, they were unable to earn a point against their neighbours.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Some of the fans in the\u00a041,947-strong crowd at the Stadium of Light remained behind in the hope of getting an autograph or selfie with the Lionesses stars afterwards &#8211; but were left disappointed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>When the video emerged on social media, however, the fans were branded &#8216;entitled&#8217; and &#8216;disrespectful&#8217; for demanding the players get off the bus and greet them having just played a match.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Lionesses fans chanting &#8216;get off the bus&#8217; after the game is a new level disrespect,&#8217; said one fan.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/23\/11\/75744465-12552045-Lauren_Hemp_doubled_England_s_lead_with_another_header_after_45_-a-25_1695463829912.jpg\" height=\"453\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Lauren Hemp doubled England&#8217;s lead with another header after 45 minutes in a comfortable half for England\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Another said: &#8216;People don&#8217;t realise. These players have another game on Tuesday which they need to be ready for. Also remember they have to fly to the Netherlands as well.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;There&#8217;s not much time to sign autographs and see everyone. They are on a tight schedule right now.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Another tweet on X said: &#8216;How embarrassing. It&#8217;s a game of football, not a meet and greet.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>One other posters wrote: &#8216;It must be a generational thing as when I started going in the 90s there were no signs begging, kids that wanted autographs stood in the car park before the game and got what they got. It feels entitled this kind of stuff.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Wiegman was pleased her side were able to take the win &#8211; which left them alongside Belgium at the top of Group A1 after the latter&#8217;s surprise win over the Netherlands.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;First of all I&#8217;m very happy with the three points, three very important points,&#8217;
