A former Liverpool player and England youth international has joined National League North outfit Warrington Town.\u00a0<\/p>\n
During two seasons without playing competitive football, the 30-year-old has had trials with Portsmouth, Sheffield United, Birmingham City, and Polish outfit Warta Poznan.<\/p>\n
It has been a long road on the search for a new club after his release from Derby County in 2021.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Finally, the defender has found a new club to call home in the north west and has penned a deal of unknown length after several weeks of training.<\/p>\n

A former England player and England youth captain has signed for Warrington Town\u00a0<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Andre Wisdom is the man to have signed with the sixth tier club after two years uncontracted<\/p>\n

The man in question is Liverpool academy graduate Andre Wisdom, who turned out 22 times for the Reds in 2012 and 2013 under Brendan Rodgers.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Since his time at Liverpool, he has played for clubs at home and abroad, taking in stints at Derby County, West Bromwich Albion, Norwich City, and Red Bull Salzburg.<\/p>\n
He was, for a time, captain of England’s U21s squad.<\/p>\n
At U17s level, he was part of the England squad that won the European Championships.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
His most recent club football was played in his second spell at Derby County, with whom he spent four seasons in the Championship.<\/p>\n
Wisdom recovered in hospital from a stabbing in the summer of 2020\u00a0to play a key role in their 2020\/21 season, when they stayed up by one point.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He has admitted that he was ‘not the same’ in his footballing career since he was stabbed.<\/p>\n
He told the Beautiful Game Podcast: ‘It was frustrating as when I’ve come out of hospital after like three days, I had a couple of operations, it was like my body just wasn’t the same.<\/p>\n

The 30-year-old played for Derby COunty most recently but revealed that after being stabbed, his body was not the same\u00a0<\/p>\n
‘I tried to get back into football and it wasn’t the same, I wasn’t getting the same output in terms of power or speed.<\/p>\n
‘It was hard to take and with that comes a lot of other niggles. I got stabbed in the head I got headaches. A little cut here (points to his chest) I couldn’t breathe that well when I came out of hospital because I had fluid on my lungs.<\/p>\n
‘I think I rushed coming back to football. So once I could walk, which was like three weeks I went straight back to football. As men we get ahead of ourselves. I played two games and I wasn’t right and my ego wouldn’t let me accept it.<\/p>\n
‘It was the last year of my contract and Derby were going through the financial issues so I remember speaking to my agent at the time I was like I’m going to play so I’m in the shop window and then rest in the summer. Then I ripped my groin.’<\/p>\n
