Or is it England supporters? Because I cannot remember a time when he&#8217;s ever let England down \u2013 in fact, I always think he&#8217;s particularly well.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I thought the other night in the first game against Ukraine, I thought he did very well.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The former Hull City defender has struggled for game time in the past two seasons, notably playing a lowly 23 minutes for United so far this season, while having only started eight times in the Premier League for the Red Devils last season, making 16 appearances despite having been available named in the squad on 31 occasions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Many have come out to show their support for Maguire amid the ongoing criticism he has received, with his mother recently hitting back at &#8216;abusive comments&#8217;\u00a0her son had received calling those who have aimed criticism at him &#8216;disgraceful&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>David Beckham reportedly &#8216;sent Maguire a text telling him to keep his head up&#8217; amid backlash after his own goal against Scotland.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Southgate also called the scapegoating of Maguire as &#8216;cowardly&#8217;, with Bruce also admitting that he did not like the condemnation that the defender has received.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the criticism, Bruce added: &#8216;The actual stuff that he&#8217;s getting &#8211; It borders on ridicule, and I don&#8217;t like that.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I nearly rang him in the summer because I know him from my time managing him at Hull City.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/22\/10\/75721283-0-image-a-23_1695374936321.jpg\" height=\"441\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Maguire (middle) has copped some abuse from fans and pundits with some, including Gareth Southgate, coming to his defence\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/22\/10\/75722387-0-image-a-22_1695374928328.jpg\" height=\"437\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Raphael Varane (first from left) and Lisandro Martinez (second from left) have both risen above him to be Ten Hag&#8217;s first choice centre-back pairing<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/22\/10\/75721323-0-image-a-24_1695374944229.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Bruce (pictured), meanwhile added that he thinks Maguire &#8216;should have moved on to find his career again&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jordan concurred, saying: &#8216;I didn&#8217;t think he was an \u00a380million pound centre-half, I think he&#8217;s a decent player. But I don&#8217;t think there is any reason for the abuse that he&#8217;s getting. I think it&#8217;s unfair and it&#8217;s unjust.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Maguire had been on the cusp of a \u00a330million move to West Ham which ultimately fell through. But Bruce, 62, admitted that working under David Moyes could have been a good move for the defender.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I personally think that I would have moved on. I think that once the manager has shown his cards to you [that you won&#8217;t be playing]\u00a0then you need to move on.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;He needs to go and find his career again, boost it again and feel respected in the audience you&#8217;re at.
