Bayern Munich are ready to reignite their interest in Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah, according to reports.

The German titans were linked with a move for the English centre back over the summer transfer window, but a transfer never materialised, with the Blues at one stage in talks over a loan deal.

They had reportedly been keen for a permanent deal, but were willing to negotiate terms for a season-long loan, but those discussions fell through on transfer deadline day.

Chalobah was also linked with a move to Nottingham Forest, who submitted a £25million offer for the versatile defender, before Premier League rivals Tottenham also showed an interest in the player.

But despite the heavy interest in his services, the Sierra Leone-born 24-year-old ultimately stayed at Stamford Bridge, failing to secure a move away before the September 1 deadline.

Now, though, reports suggest that Thomas Tuchel’s side may be in for a return visit to their previous transfer target, according to Football Insider.

Tuchel is thought to be a huge admirer of the defender’s talents – having handed him his debut for the Blues in 2021 – and may be drawn back to west London to recruit the youngster.

With new boss Mauricio Pochettino bringing in ex-Monaco star Axel Disasi over the summer, Chalobah’s route to the first-team has become somewhat less clear, despite the sales of Kalidou Koulibaly and Cesar Azpilicueta.

A source claimed that first-team minutes are now thought to be difficult for Chalobah to attain at Chelsea.

As such, a move to Tuchel’s Bayern Munich could be his best hope for regular minutes, having already turned down Nottingham Forest.

He was however included in the club’s recent Premier League squad list, with his homegrown status at the club a valuable commodity.

Although Pochettino has complained of having just 15 players fit after the international break, Chalobah’s inclusion in Sunday’s clash with Bournemouth is unlikely given his battle with a niggling hamstring injury.

Chalobah is under contract at Stamford Bridge until at least 2028, with the option of a further year on top of that, having come through the ranks at the Blues’ academy.

Nottingham Forest submitted a £25million bid for the player but were unsuccessful in their pursuit
