Julian Nagelsmann is reportedly in pole position to take the vacant Germany manager’s job and lead the nation into a home European Championships next summer.<\/p>\n
Germany are looking for a new boss after\u00a0Hansi Flick was sacked on Sunday following a humiliating 4-1 home defeat to Japan.<\/p>\n
Legendary former striker and German FA (DFB) sports director\u00a0Rudi Voller led the team to an impressive 2-1 win over France on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Voller is part of a three-man team leading the search for Flick’s replacement, alongside\u00a0DFB president Bernd Neuendorf and vice-president\u00a0Hans-Joachim Watzke.<\/p>\n
Contact has been made by Voller with representatives of\u00a0Nagelsmann, according to German newspaper Bild.<\/p>\n

Discussions have reportedly begun over finances, with the former Bayern Munich\u00a0boss seen as being in ‘pole position’ to take charge.<\/p>\n
Nagelsmann was sacked by Bayern in March despite the German giants still being in the title race and the Champions League.<\/p>\n
The 36-year-old’s shock dismissal ended a 22-month spell in the job where he had won\u00a060 of his 84 games in charge, leading Bayern to the Bundesliga title and two German Super Cups.<\/p>\n
Nagelsmann is still legally contracted to Bayern despite being sacked by the club, with his \u00a36m-per-year deal running until 2026.<\/p>\n
Watzke, who is also Borussia Dortmund’s managing director, has\u00a0approached Bayern to discuss\u00a0Nagelsmann’s suitability for the national team job.<\/p>\n
Discussions have reportedly taken place over the conditions Bayern are prepared to accept to release\u00a0Nagelsmann from his contact.<\/p>\n
The reigning German champions are claimed to be willing to waive a fee for his release, despite having paid RB Leipzig a\u00a0world-record \u00a321.7million to secure his services in 2021.<\/p>\n
Bild reported that Bayern have demanded that the DFB cover\u00a0Nagelsmann’s entire salary for the remainder of his contract.<\/p>\n

Should the DFB agree to the demand, Bayern would save the \u00a317million owed to\u00a0Nagelsmann in the remainder of his contract.<\/p>\n
Nagelsmann, who was linked with Chelsea, Tottenham and PSG during the summer, would be tasked with turning around Germany’s fortunes if appointed.<\/p>\n
Germany were eliminated from the 2018 and 2022 World Cups in the group stages, while they suffered a last-16 exit to England at Euro 2020.<\/p>\n

Germany had gone five matches without a win under Flick prior to his dismissal, with the run including four defeats.<\/p>\n

Matthias Sammer and Oliver Glasner have also been touted as candidates to take over as Germany boss, while Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been ruled out of contention.\u00a0<\/p>\n
