Harry Maguire insists he\u2019s happy to be a punch bag for abusive fans if it helps take the pressure off his team mates.<\/p>\n
The England and Manchester United star has become the target of rival supporters and critics following his dramatic fall from grace. <\/p>\n
Maguire has been frozen out at United and stripped of the captaincy. He was mocked by Scottish fans after scoring an own goal in England\u2019s 3-1 win at Hampden Park on Tuesday night.<\/p>\n
This led to Gareth Southgate\u2019s passionate defence of his troubled star – labelling the critics \u2018ridiculous\u2019.<\/p>\n

But Maguire says he is happy to keep facing the flak if it makes those around him perform better.<\/p>\n
Maguire said: \u201cIt pretty much takes the pressure away from my team mates and puts it all on myself. It makes them play better, for sure.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a hostile environment, when you hear the national anthem and the way they (Scottish fans) disrespect that.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the second half I got most of it, but I\u2019m happy to go with that – don\u2019t worry about that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Maguire is facing the toughest time of his career – but insists he has the mental strength to cope.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cI wouldn\u2019t say I\u2019m a person that struggles with pressure mentally.<\/p>\n
