    Forget the Hollywood stardom of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney on Welcome to Wrexham – Dean Gaffney and Shaun Williamson are taking over at Basildon AFC.<\/p>\n

    From EastEnders to Essex with dreams of dragging Basildon AFC to the promised land of the Premier League, Gaffney and Williamson are ready to surpass the achievements of their Welsh counterparts. <\/p>\n

    Hollywood royalty Reynolds and McElhenney have transformed the fortunes of Wrexham and taken them back into the Football League with the EastEnders duo planning to do the same… but there is one slight problem.<\/p>\n

    Basildon AFC are not a real football club.<\/p>\n

    Paddy Power's genius sketch coincides with the release of the second series of Welcome to Wrexham which begins to drop on Disney+ on Tuesday (September 12).<\/p>\n

    The Irish bookmaker gives an English equivalent with far more modest financial backers across three episodes of the parody series.<\/p>\n

    Gaffney joked his finances come from the passing of his late nan, with Williamson going silent when asked how he plans to turnaround their 14 game losing streak.<\/p>\n

    During the first episode of the online docuseries – with the dynamic duo looking to 'diversify their brand'.<\/p>\n

    Williamson says: "Why do we want to buy Basildon?<\/p>\n

    "Because when we were riding high back in the 90s, we should have diversified, expanded our brand into different territories and income streams…and we want the club to do well."<\/p>\n

    The first episode of the skit was released on Monday, with the second set to follow on Tuesday (September 12) and third on Thursday (September 14).<\/p>\n

    The sideways look at non-league football also features an appearance of Jamie Redknapp, who will aim to assist the hapless owners.<\/p>\n

    Speaking about the new series, a spokesperson for Paddy Power revealed: "We paid Jamie Redknapp do a cameo and bless them, but I think Shaun and Dean found the Sky pundits appearance a little too convincing.<\/p>\n

    "Williamson is either the finest method actor we\u2019ve ever come across, or he\u2019s a little confused.<\/p>\n

    "I heard him do a phone-in to TalkSPORT radio the other night, and he seemed to think Basildon is the real deal."<\/p>\n
