Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold will only be out for a couple of weeks with a hamstring injury, reports claim. The 24-year-old has pulled out of the England squad but his absence isn’t set to have a big impact on his club appearances.

Alexander-Arnold limped off during Sunday’s 3-0 win over Aston Villa at Anfield. He was replaced by Jarell Quansah with 20 minutes of normal time remaining after receiving on-field treatment.

Jurgen Klopp claimed after the match that Alexander-Arnold only believed it was a minor issue but the club were set to wait for scan results to determine the extent of the problem. The German said: “I don’t know exactly.

“I asked him, he said it’s [his] hamstring. ‘Not too serious’ is his opinion, but we obviously have to wait for the scans and then we will know more.”

If not, he could return for the Europa League tie away to LASK five days later.

He and Jack Grealish pulled out of the England squad for the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine and friendly against Scotland on Monday. Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate has not called up replacements for the duo.

Liverpool have also announced that Quansah has withdrawn from the England under-20s squad. However, they didn’t give a reason for his exclusion.

Don’t miss…

The 23/24 home shirt for Liverpool pays homage to the past of the club, as well as collaborator Nike, with a strong 1970s influence. The £34million midfielder instead will stay with his new club on Merseyside following his deadline-day arrival.

The decision has caused fury in the Netherlands camp. Senior boss Ronald Koeman has insisted he is “not happy” while under-21s manager Michael Reiziger blasted Gravenberch.

Reiziger said: “I don’t think it’s a good decision, I told him that. I really don’t think it’s good.

“For a national team, for your country, you have to play with your heart. Not with your head. So you really have to want to be there.
