Rasmus Hojlund has pledged to ‘bounce back’ with the rest of his Manchester United team-mates after a disappointing afternoon at the Emirates Stadium. Last-gasp goals from Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus decided the contest in Arsenal’s favour, ending Hojlund’s debut on a sour note.

United briefly held the lead in north London after Marcus Rashford’s powerful strike past Aaron Ramsdale. It lasted just over a minute, as Martin Odegaard kick-started the hosts’ comeback, which was finished off with two goals in stoppage time.

Hojlund had to make do with a spot on the bench after recovering from a back injury. United fans were desperate to see the striker in action after his £72million move from Atalanta, and they got their wish with half an hour to play.

Although the Dane was unable to produce the goods, flashes of his pace and power in behind will have given supporters something to look forward to after the international break.
