Ligue 1 side FC Lorient reportedly opted against signing Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek on deadline day because they ‘didn’t appreciate his behaviour’ towards them.

Van de Beek remained a Manchester United player despite being heavily linked with a move away this summer.

The arrivals of Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat have seen Van de Beek pushed even further down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

It has now been reported by L’Equipe that FC Lorient decided against making a move for Van de Beek on deadline day.

The report states that they didn’t appreciate his attitude towards them earlier in the summer when offered the chance to sign him on deadline day.

FC Lorient reportedly opted against signing Donny van de Beek on deadline day this summer

The midfielder pulled a U-turn and was keen to go to Lorient despite previously having no interest

However, the Ligue 1 side did not appreciate his change of mind and chose not to sign him

In mid-August it is believed that the player refused to speak with Lorient despite the French side already agreeing a deal with Manchester United over a loan move.

However, after Van de Beek failed to attract interest, he became open to the move.

His representatitves contacted Lorient at 10pm on deadline day to inform the club that the player was open to a discussion.

Despite his U-turn, the Ligue 1 side ‘did not appreciate this’ and decided not to pursue a late deal for the midfielder.

Therefore, Van de Beek remains at Manchester United.

It’s unclear as to what the future holds for the Dutch midfielder, who will find game time limited this season due to the number of options at Erik ten Hag’s disposal.

The Saudi Pro League transfer window remains open until September 20, but Van de Beek has not yet been linked with a move to the Middle East.
