{"id":289289,"date":"2023-09-03T21:09:19","date_gmt":"2023-09-03T21:09:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tellmysport.com\/?p=289289"},"modified":"2023-09-03T21:09:19","modified_gmt":"2023-09-03T21:09:19","slug":"ben-foster-opens-up-about-his-weekly-wage-at-west-brom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tellmysport.com\/soccer\/ben-foster-opens-up-about-his-weekly-wage-at-west-brom\/","title":{"rendered":"Ben Foster opens up about his weekly wage at West Brom"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Ben Foster reveals his weekly wage when he signed for West Brom &#8211; and how much it would have been slashed by if they suffered Premier League relegation<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Ben Foster has revealed what his salary was when he played for West Brom<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>The former England international says his wage would drop following relegation<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Foster recently left League Two Wrexham after making 12 appearances\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ben Foster has opened up about how much money he used to earn while playing for West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League.<\/p>\n<p>The former England international left Wrexham in August and went back into retirement after making 12 appearances for the Welsh club.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on his Fozcast podcast, Foster revealed what his weekly wage was during the peak of his powers at West Brom.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The goalkeeper made 223 appearance for the Baggies between 2012 and 2018, and admitted that he was one of the club&#8217;s best-paid players during that time.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Foster said: &#8216;In my first contract in 2012 at West Brom, I think it was \u00a340,000 a week.<\/p>\n<p>My Weekly SALARY at West Brom\u2026 \ud83d\ude31 #westbrom #wba #Premierleague #benfoster <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/02\/12\/74988623-12472963-image-m-11_1693652522345.jpg\" height=\"419\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Ben Foster has revealed he earned a weekly wage of \u00a340,000 during his time at West Brom<\/p>\n<p>Your browser does not support iframes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;I was one of the higher earners, I definitely wasn&#8217;t the top earner but one of the higher earners.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 40-year-old left West Brom to join Watford after the Baggies had been relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2017-18 season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Foster would stay at Vicarage Road for four seasons before announcing his retirement.<\/p>\n<p>He was tempted out of retirement by former club Wrexham, and the one-time Manchester United goalkeeper helped the Hollywood-owned club win promotion back to the Football League last term.<\/p>\n<p>Although Foster suffered relegation during spells at Birmingham City and Watford, he managed to help keep West Brom in the top flight until his final season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/02\/09\/74986727-12472963-image-a-2_1693644862005.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Foster recently left League Two side Wrexham after helping the club to promotion to the EFL<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/02\/09\/74986777-12472963-image-m-6_1693644990350.jpg\" height=\"932\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The goalkeeper is a former England international and spent the majority of his career turning out for Premier League clubs<\/p>\n<p>He revealed that his wage would have dropped significantly had he remained at the club in the Championship if they had been relegated after signing his initial four-year contract in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Foster said: &#8216;I had a clause in my contract.
