Jake Paul threatened with slap by UFC icon Daniel Cormier during UFC 261 meeting

Jake Paul and Daniel Cormier went head-to-head during an ill-tempered UFC 261 meeting as the former UFC Heavyweight champion threatened to slap the young YouTube star.

Veteran DC, who is best known for his success at Light-Heavyweight, had been backing Ben Askren to get a win over Paul, who won by style in the first-round.

A war of words then begun on Twitter, with the younger of the Paul brothers mocking his weight and promising to ‘cook him up’ Cleveland style should they meet in the ring.

An angry Cormier told Joe Rogan on air: "I swear to god, I just saw Jake Paul.

"I pointed at him, I said, ‘Don’t play with me.’ Because I’ll slap him in the face. I don’t play those games, Joe."

The chat came after a recent Twitter spat, with DC saying during a recent episode of the DC & Helwani Show: “This dude would never fight me.

"I would kill him. Why would I ever fight someone like that?” But my immediate reaction was, ‘I can’t stand this kid.’ So it works! I can’t stand this kid! But who punches down?

"You don’t punch down to somebody. I’m the guy that’s in the Hall of Fame.

"I’m the guy that won two world championships at the same time.

“I’m not gonna punch down to some kid that’s on YouTube that’s, like, ‘Fight me!’ Like, why?"
