Emma Raducanu reacts to latest win as Transylvania Open run continues

Emma Raducanu breezed past Ana Bogdan at the Transylvania Open to pick up just her second WTA win in her career before insisting she is far from the ‘finished product.’

Raducanu came out on top against the world No.106 as she recorded a convincing 6-3, 6-4 victory to reach the quarter-finals.

Having delivered her first win since her US Open triumph against Polona Hercog in the first round, the British No.1 is hoping another fairytale run can continue unfolding in her father’s homeland of Romania.

‘Yeah I think that it’s definitely taking me some time to find my feet still so yeah I’m just taking some learnings from every match that I play and I don’t think I’m the finished product yet,’ Raducanu said.

‘I’m still just learning from every match, taking the experience and loving my time here in this tournament so far.’

Raducanu had to save three break points in the opening game amid a few early nerves but soon found herself with triple break point of her own as a neat backhand down the line saw her take a comfortable 2-0 lead.

Bogdan’s main threat proved to be her fierce cross-court backhand but Raducanu’s speed across the baseline was equal to it in the early stages.

The Romanian had her first game on the board in the fourth by offering up a hold of service to love before Raducanu made the score 4-1 with a nice combination of forehand and backhand winners.

While Bogdan overcame a couple of double faults on her next service game to eventually hold, her opponent was having no trouble on serve with several forcing the 28-year-old wide and unable to return.

Pressure clearly didn’t phase Raducanu when serving for the match as she raced to 40-0 before Bogdan’s return went long to gift the youngster the win.

Raducanu will face Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk in the next round, with the 19-year-old having beaten Mona Barthel in the last-16.
