Cristiano Ronaldo is third in a predicted list of the world’s 100 highest-paid athletes, sitting behind Lionel Messi and Conor McGregor.

The Juventus forward has suffered a tough season, with his side missing out on the Serie A title for the first time in 10 years and failing to mount any real challenge in the Champions League.

But it has not stopped the Portuguese superstar from earning the big bucks through his social media endorsements.

Ronaldo’s financial success, though, has only put him third on Sportico’s predicted list for the top 100 highest-paid athletes.

It is topped by McGregor, with The Notorious taking a big payday despite suffering defeat to Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 earlier this year to sit on £146.5m.

While the footballer’s rival Messi, who has made it 672 senior goals for Barcelona this season, just beats the Juventus star at £88.7m.

The top five is made up of NFL team Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and NBA legend Lebron James of the LA Lakers.

Neymar, the biggest transfer in football history at £200m, is seventh on the list ahead of tennis legend Roger Federer.

The highest-paid woman on the list is fellow court star Naomi Osaka, just behind F1 champion Lewis Hamilton and golfer Tiger Woods.

While Barcelona flop Philippe Coutinho, who has only scored 24 goals in 90 appearances since his mega-money move from Liverpool, just sneaks on the list in 97th.
