West Ham are looking at alternatives after talks for Corinthians forward Yuri Alberto hit an impasse.

As reported by Mail Sport on Tuesday, the Hammers will remain in the market for a forward, even after securing the transfer of Mohammed Kudus, with Alberto having been among their targets.

David Moyes’ side have seen wantaway striker Gianluca Scamacca join Atalanta, and with Michail Antonio the only other recognised striker with senior experience at the club, Alberto emerged as a target.

The need for a new No 9 may become even more pressing as the transfer deadline draws near, with the Jamaican international linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League.

Talks between West Ham and Al-Ettifaq were put on hold earlier this summer but insiders say the Saudi side have returned for the 33-year-old Jamaica forward.

However, Moyes is believed to be keen on bringing in a recognised goal scorer before sanctioning the sale of Antonio.

But Mail Sport understands that the Hammers are struggling to get a deal over the line for the Brazilian, despite technical director Tim Steidten flying to Brazil for talks.

One player that has previously been of interest to the east London outfit is Paris Saint-Germain’s Hugo Ekitike.

West Ham revived their interest in the player on Wednesday, but may now face competition from London rivals Brentford in the striker.

Alberto has one cap for Brazil and has scored 52 goals in 158 appearances for Brazilian sides Internacional and Corinthians.

The 22-year-old has some European pedigree under his belt, although his spell with Zenit St. Petersburg yielded just 16 appearances.

He did however net four times in 11 league appearances for the Russian giants.

The Hammers have also been linked with a move for Sevilla’s Moroccan striker Youssef En-Nesyri this summer.
