A small group of Fulham fans demonstrated why rival Premier League fans often call them the 'Victoria Sponge Brigade'.
Marco Silva's side travelled to a Newcastle United team wounded by their crushing early Champions League exit. Beers at eight o'clock in the morning washed down with a greasy fry-up or a curry is not unusual when it comes to football fans making long away trips.
However, a new bar has been set by some West Londoners supporters who evidently did not want to associate themselves with the typical riff-raff of other fans. So much so, their posh nosh has been compared to visiting a rather wealthy grandmother.

A Fulham supporter uploaded a picture of a train table filled with the kind of food and booze you would expect to see at a fancy dinner party. It featured a posh cheese board with boursin, cheddar, brie and stilton, complete with two bunches of grapes, cherries and crackers.
There was also three packs of smoked salmon, two pots of olives, a pack of Russian style pancakes called blinis, what appears to be a carrot and walnut cake and, most fittingly, a bottle of rose and a bottle of prosecco.

"When you’re at your posh grandma's for tea and you’ve got Newcastle away in the morning," one fan commented. "Accept no imitations. Fulham boys are on a sophisticated bender," a second wrote.
One fierce critic, who may not necessarily have been a football fan, added: "Socially unacceptable on a public train. It would stink." A second wrote: "If there is ever a table to show the north/ south divide, that’s it."
However, other football fans chose not to banter the Fulham fans and told them to enjoy their posh nosh in peace. "Looking good lads. Although could’ve done with a bit of caviar and crème fraiche with those blinis. One for the next trip," said one fan.
Another tweeted: "Fair play to them and to any fans travelling hundreds of miles to see their team today. Enjoy the prosecco!"
