Tottenham are reportedly continuing talks behind the scenes with Roberto Martinez as they close in on the appointment of a new manager. Spurs are hoping to make an official announcement within the next week to 10 days on their new boss as they continue to work through a list of candidates.

Martinez is currently preparing for the European Championships with Belgium this summer.

However, he has already told those close to him that he intends to return to club management after the tournament.

His agent is said to be working on finding him a new club with Real Madrid another potential destination for the Spaniard.

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham are currently in talks with Martinez and the discussions are set to continue this week.

Two other names remain on the agenda for Tottenham in the form of Graham Potter and Ralf Rangnick.

The Brighton boss has impressed this season despite the Seagulls’ disappointing Premier League finish.

Daniel Levy is said to have concerns over Potter and whether he represents a big gamble during an important time for the club.

That said, the Spurs players are said to have privately praised Brighton and their style of play after both matches against them this season.

Meanwhile, Rangnick is believed to have held talks with the Tottenham hierarchy but it’s unclear whether that was over the managerial position or sporting director role.

He is vastly experienced as a coach in the Bundesliga and nearly joined AC Milan last summer.

The new boss will have their work cut out trying to keep hold of Harry Kane.

It’s understood that he has already told Spurs that he intends to leave at the end of the season due to the lack of Champions League football.
