Chelsea target Jonas Hofmann has dropped a big hint that his former boss Thomas Tuchel wants to take him to the Premier League. The Borussia Monchengladbach forward let on that initial talks have already taken place ahead of the summer transfer window.

Hofmann has been in decent form for Gladbach this season, having scored seven goals and notched 11 assists in all competitions while playing mainly on the right wing.

The 28-year-old is well known to Tuchel, having played under the Chelsea manager for Borussia Dortmund.

And there has already been contact between the Stamford Bridge boss and Hofmann’s representatives, according to reports from Germany.

Hofmann understandably didn’t give too much away when asked about interest from Chelsea – but he did suggest that a club had “already asked”.

“Basically, I feel good at Borussia; I’ve always emphasised that,” the Germany international told Ruhr Nachrichten, cited by Sport Witness.

“It may be that one or the other club has expressed its interest.

“Nevertheless, for me, the absolute focus is on having a successful season with Borussia and dedicating myself fully to success. I put my personal situation under it.

Then asked directly about Chelsea contact, he added: “I think it’s clear that other clubs will notice you if you perform well. Therefore, it is possible that one or the other has already asked.”

It was reported by Bild last month last that Tuchel had contacted Hofmann’s advisers over a potential move.

The German publication said Hofmann was ‘quite ready’ to leave Gladbach if he received an ‘attractive offer’.

He was previously linked with a move to Tottenham at the beginning of 2019.

Gladbach are currently struggling in ninth place in the Bundesliga, and are 2-0 down to Manchester City in their Champions League last-16 tie ahead of the second leg at the Etihad on March 16.
