Thomas Frank has slapped a ‘not for sale’ sign on Brentford defender Ethan Pinnock.
Only two weeks ago, following Pinnock’s powerful performance and goal in the 2-0 win at Chelsea, the Bees boss described the Jamaican as good enough to grace any of the Premier League elite.
He even expressed surprise that none of the English giants had targeted the west Londoners’ increasingly-impressive pillar at the back. Pinnock, 30, has another opportunity this afternoon to put Frank’s glowing verdict to the test when he faces Liverpool’s fearsome attack.

But, rest assured, no matter how well he fares in trying to keeping Mo Salah and Co quiet at Anfield, the ex-Forest Green and Barnsley man will be going nowhere should the big boys come calling in January. Frank made that clear ahead of the Merseyside clash when he declared: “No, no, no. He’s not for sale.
“When I said I don’t understand why they’re not looking at him, it was just a compliment. I’m very impressed with Ethan. He just continues to perform at such a high level.

“I think he had a good first season in the Premier League, then last season he took it a level up. Or he definitely added layers and has kept that high level of consistency in his performances.
“Of course, I’m biased because I work with him everyday and look through his games with such detail, but the more I see of him and then other teams’ centre-backs, I more I think he’s definitely underrated .
“Especially, as a defensive centre-back. He has the ability to defend in every aspect of a football match. He’s incredible.” Just how much better Pinnock can get – given his age – remains to be seen. However, Frank is convinced he has yet to reach his peak.
And while he stopped short of suggesting he could do something similar to Chelsea defensive legend, Thiago Silva, still cutting it in the Premier League at 39, he cited the brilliant evergreen Brazilian to justify his point.

He went on: “Look at Thiago. The biggest respect for him and his career, because he’s one of his generations best centre- back, but I think there’s more room for development for Ethan, no doubt about that. He’s now 30, so can add a bit more in the next couple of years and then keep it at that level for a long time.”
