Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has teased a strong starting XI to face Manchester City after leaving six players out of his squad.
The Reds Devils are looking to book a place in the Carabao Cup final against Tottenham and former boss Jose Mourinho with victory over their rivals at Old Trafford.
A win would put the red side of Manchester on an unbeaten run of eight games in all competitions.
United have enjoyed a strong run against Pep Guardiola’s City, winning three of the last five match-ups between the Premier League giants.
And Solskjaer has hinted that he is taking the game seriously with six cup players missing out on a place.
The players took a coach from Carrington to the Lowry Hotel, a couple of miles away from the Old Trafford ground.
Club captain Harry Maguire, star man Bruno Fernandes and midfielder Paul Pogba were all seen getting off the coach.
But Lee Grant, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Brandon Williams, Jesse Lingard, Facundo Pellistri and Odion Ighalo were not seen on Wednesday afternoon.
United’s third goalkeeper, behind Dean Henderson and David de Gea, has only made two appearances since arriving from Stoke in 2018.
While Fosu-Mensah has fallen out of favour with Solskjaer, failing to make a star since the opening 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace.
Having made just four appearances since his 2018/19 loan spell against Fulham, his rejection of a new contract suggests the Dutchman and lack of inclusion in the Carabao Cup suggests he could be moved on.
The same could be said of Lingard, who has been linked with an exit since the summer.
Solksjaer also decided to leave out Williams, with Alex Telles and Luke Shaw included for the Old Trafford game.
And it could be a hint he is on the way out on loan, with Newcastle boss and former United defender Steve Bruce expressing an interest.
Pellistri is still working with the academy since his deadline-day arrival while Ighalo is expected to leave the club soon.
It comes as Solskajer has warned that United’s extra rest has “done wonders” for the squad.
