Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri has released a statement ranting he won’t put any money into the club just months after they were promoted from League One.

Chansiri has come under increasing pressure from disgruntled Wednesday fans and the Thai businessman has taken aim at supporters in an incredible statement on Friday morning.

Wednesday currently sit rock bottom of the Championship with just two points from eight games after winning promotion via the play-offs last season.

Chansiri, who led a consortium to buy the Owls in January 2015 from Milan Mandaric for £37.5million, previously targeted promotion to the Premier League by 2017.

But with the club spending the last two seasons in League One and beginning their return to the Championship miserably, pressure from the fans has seen Chansiri lash out at supporters and reveal he will withdraw from putting money into the club.

In a club statement, Chansiri ranted: “But from now, I will not put additional money into the club. If you say you are the owner and I am the custodian, then show me how to be the good owner and help save your club. You want me to leave but you want me to spend money?

“If you want me to leave, then show me how to run the club and invest the money before I do that. You have no right to ask me to leave.

“I am the one who saved the club and spent the money for the club, I am the one who needs to pay around £2m on average every month. Some fans need to have more respect for owners of clubs and not be so selfish, thinking of their own benefit without doing anything good to the club.

“This is not acceptable and as a result I am not willing to inject more money while I am being treated unfairly by those fans."

Chansiri revealed he is looking to sell the club to a new owner if an offer meets his valuation, but has rubbished talk of any already interested parties.
