Cristiano Ronaldo and Jordan Henderson’s influence helped a Scottish singer reach number one in the Saudi Arabian Spotify charts.

Amy Macdonald reached the stratospheric height with her hit ‘This Is The Life’, which is from 2007.

The song has over 380million plays – far more than her next most trending song, which has 54m.

That’s because clips showing Cristiano Ronaldo and Jordan Henderson playing in the Saudi Pro League have been shared on TikTok with Macdonald’s song as the soundtrack.

‘I had started noticing I was getting a lot of comments in Arabic on social media,’ Macdonald told the Restless Natives podcast.

‘I was like “it looks lovely but I’ve got no idea what it says” and there was just more and more of it.

‘Somebody looked into it and there seems to be a lot of videos on social media using ‘This Is the Life’ that are like Ronaldo playing football in Saudi Arabia.

‘I said to one of my mates about it and they sent me a photoshop of Jordan Henderson wearing an Amy Macdonald tee-shirt.’

Originally, Macdonald’s song reached number one in six countries after being released but only made it to No 28 in the UK.

Videos with compilations showing players such as Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, and Victor Osimhen have also been shared.

Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in December on a £175million-per-year deal after his dramatic exit from Manchester United.

Jordan Henderson, meanwhile, joined Al-Ettifaq in the summer after a protracted transfer saga and is mooted to be on £700,000 per week, though he has claimed the figure is not that high.
