Fulham’s Raul Jimenez has been slammed for his red card tackle against Newcastle, which has been compared to ‘an awful kung-fu kick’.
Jimenez was initially booked for the challenge on Sean Longstaff before a VAR check led to the Mexican striker being given his marching orders.
While it appears Jimenez’s foot did not connect with Longstaff, the Fulham player looked out of control as he connected with the Newcastle player’s face.
On Soccer Saturday, Sky Sports presenter Simon Thomas likened the tackle to ‘an awful kung-fu kick’.
Mail Sport’s man at the ground Craig Hope wrote on X: ‘Seen a replay… that has to be a red card.’

Another X (formerly Twitter) user said: ‘Jimenez kicked out at AND threw his body at Longstaff. Wild’.
