Rapids to open Dick’s Sporting Goods Park to near 100% capacity starting July 4 – The Denver Post

A jam-packed Dick’s Sporting Goods Park will soon be a possibility.

The Colorado Rapids announced Thursday that they will open up their home stadium to near full capacity starting with a Fourth of July match against Seattle Sounders FC.

The only thing keeping the Rapids from true 100% capacity in July will be restrictions placed upon the club by Major League Soccer safety restrictions in a few areas.

“We’re delighted to finally welcome our fans back to a full capacity DICK’S Sporting Goods Park,” Rapids executive Pádraig Smith said in a news release. “It’s a moment we’ve eagerly anticipated since games were suspended last year and we couldn’t be more thankful to our local health authorities for their tireless efforts in helping us reach this milestone and to our fans for their patience and continued support as we worked to re-open the stadium in a safe manner. I know I speak for everyone at the club when I say we can’t wait to experience the atmosphere of a full stadium with our supporters on July 4.”

The release did not mention face mask requirements, but it did say health and safety protocols will still be in place, including hand sanitization kiosks throughout the stadium. The venue will also remain cash-free while operating within MLS guidelines.

Season-ticket holders will be able to returning to their previous seats, pending MLS health and safety guidelines. Ticket information will be sent to season-ticket holders via email by the end of next week, the release stated.

Single game tickets for 13 home matches, including the Fourth of July match, will go on sale Saturday, June 4. Fans can put their names on a priority list for presale access.
