Rangers star Todd Cantwell makes ‘worst dive ever’ that ‘nobody can defend’

Rangers star Todd Cantwell looked to auditioning for a Hollywood film with a bit of acting during the Gers' clash with Aberdeen.

With the scores level on Sunday, the Englishman weaved in-and-out of the Dons' defence as he looked to break into the penalty area. However, Cantwell was looking for any bit of contact, and when they didn't come, he took a dive.

And even Rangers fans struggled to defend the dive that wouldn't have looked out of place of the 10m board in the Olympics. One fan joked: "I’m sorry but I think this might be the worst I’ve ever seen! Nobody can defend that…"

"If that was in reverse and at the Olympics he’d be coming home with a Pole Vault medal," a second joked. While a third replied: "An absolute cheat, this is becoming seen more and more in football and needs to be stamped out!"

"They should play it in the stadium on a big screen and have everyone laugh at him," a fourth said. And another added: "What an absolute melon Cantwell is!"

Ex-Everton, Motherwell and Scotland star James McFadden slammed the player on-air while on commentary duties for Sky Sports, branding his attempt at simulation "ridiculous".

While former referees Steve Conroy and Des Roache demanded retrospective action. Conroy told stocklytics.com: "He’s a cheat and he should face a retrospective red card. It’s ridiculous.”

While Roache fumed: "It’s actually embarrassing. He should be hammered for this – and it’s not the first time he’s done it. Cheating is the worst thing in football – and that’s what this is. He should be hammered for this."
