Mauricio Pochettino has revealed Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk have both suffered injury in training.
The Chelsea boss has made several changes for the visit of Brentford in Saturday’s west London derby, with Reece James, Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi and Nicolas Jackson all returning to the side.
Fernandez, who announced the birth of his newborn son on Friday, and Mudryk were both pictured in training in the lead up up to the game but will miss out against Thomas Frank’s side.
Pochettino says the pair suffered muscle injuries but expects them to return to the team in the near future.
‘Both Enzo and Misha felt something in training yesterday, small muscle injuries for them both,’ he said.

‘We hoped they would be okay to be in the squad but unfortunately they aren’t quite ready. Neither of them are big issues but we didn’t want to take any risks.’
‘With Enzo especially, he and his partner have just had a baby so maybe that was a reason why he was a little uncomfortable yesterday!
‘He will now rest and recover and hopefully be back with the team as soon as possible.’
After a slow start to his Chelsea career, Mudryk scored two goals in his last three league appearances before his injury.
It has coincided with Chelsea’s upturn in form as they look to extend their unbeaten run to five games against Brentford.
