- The five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s contract with Juventus expires next summer
- Ronaldo has been linked with a sensational return to former club Real Madrid
- But Florentino Perez has emphatically quashed the rumours regarding Ronaldo
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has emphatically quashed any talk of Cristiano Ronaldo making a sensational return to the club.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s future at Juventus is far from clear at the moment amid talk the club are looking to offload him due to his astronomical wages, with his contract at the Allianz Stadium expiring next summer.
The uncertainty has led to links of an emotional return to the Bernabeu, but Perez has made it very clear that they won’t be re-signing the 36-year-old star.

There has been talk of a sensational return to Real Madrid for the Portuguese international
Perez, who is under-fire after spearheading the European Super League plans, told El Larguero: ‘The rumours of Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Madrid are just rumours from his entourage. There is nothing.’
Ronaldo departed Madrid for Juventus in the summer of 2018 as he went in search of a new challenge but his time in Turin has failed to live up to expectations.
The Portuguese international has won two Serie A crowns with the Old Lady but has failed to win the Champions League, with the round of 16 being the furthest Juve have got in the competition with Ronaldo in the side.
Ronaldo’s move to Turin has plagued Juventus’ financial accounts – with the forward on wages of £28million.
However, Florentino Perez has quashed the idea of a reunion: ‘It does not make sense’
Ronaldo is Madrid’s all-time top goalscorer with a remarkable 451 goals in just 438 matches for the Spanish giants.
Madrid have struggled to replace those goals following his departure, with Eden Hazard one of several marquee signings that has failed to live up to expectations.
But despite quashing talk of a return for Ronaldo, two players who remain heavily linked with Madrid are Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.
However, Perez also claimed that the signings of either will be ‘impossible’ for any team without the European Super League money.
Perez has spearheaded efforts to create the breakaway league, featuring at least 12 of the continent’s leading clubs and backed by over £4billion in JPMorgan cash.
Perez said it will be ‘impossible’ to sign Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haland without the European Super League cash
But those efforts appear doomed to failure with only Real and Barcelona left out of the original dozen who committed to the rival competition to UEFA’s Champions League.
Perez insisted the project remained alive on Wednesday night and claimed that nobody will be able to afford the likes of Mbappe or Haaland without the cash injection the Super League could provide.
‘In general, there will not be big transfers this summer,’ Perez told El Larguero. ‘When money does not flow from the rich clubs to the poor clubs, everyone suffers.
‘It’s impossible to make signings like Mbappe and Haaland, in general, not just for Real Madrid, without the Super League.’
