Pep Guardiola will take on bitter rivals Liverpool in the summer scrap to land World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister.

The Manchester City boss will go on another spending spree in a bid to keep his foot on the throats of his biggest rivals.

And Guardiola has put the £60m-rated Argentina and Brighton sensation – eyed by Reds manager Jurgen Klopp too – top of his wanted list after missing out on Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid.

Guardiola has led City to a fifth Premier League title in six seasons and is now eyeing up a famous Treble.

But whatever happens between now and the end of the season, Guardiola will never be satisfied and has handed chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak a list of world class targets he would like to sign.

Guardiola wants to make sure City remain the kings of English football and give the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Newcastle and Liverpool no chance of dethroning them under his watch.

The Spaniard could see the likes of Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva and Kalvin Phillips leave the Etihad this summer and has made strengthening his midfield a priority.

So he has drawn up a shortlist of midfield replacements which includes Mac Allister, his club team-mate Julio Enciso and Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich.

City have also been keeping tabs on West Ham hero Declan Rice, although the England star is expected to go to Arsenal.

Guardiola is also hoping to land RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol in an £85m deal.

Spain international Aymeric Laporte is expected to leave City after falling down the pecking order – and Guardiola reckons Gvardiol would be the ideal replacement following an impressive season which saw him help Croatia reach the World Cup semi-finals in Qatar.
