Mason Greenwood has been hailed as Manchester United ’s best finisher, and Paul Scholes suggests everybody at the club agrees as much.
The 19-year-old, who signed a new contract at Old Trafford this week, is rated extremely highly.
A bright future is expected for the young England talent, and he earned himself another start in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Prior to kick off in the round of 32 first-leg tie against Real Sociedad, Scholes spoke of his admiration for Greenwood.
While United have Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Anthony Martial among their top-class attacking armoury, it’s Greenwood who is deemed the most lethal in front of goal.
Rashford ultimately started the game on the left with Daniel James on the right, while Greenwood led the line against the La Liga side.
And BT Sport pundit Scholes said: “It’s between Rashford and Greenwood who plays in that centre-forward role.
“I think the club and everybody thinks Greenwood is the best finisher at the club so therefore would be better as the No9.
“The only problem is when Rashford’s played on the right-hand side he hasn’t really found his best form so all three of them players could switch round quite a bit.
“Dan James could go out there, then Rashford left, and that would leave Greenwood free to go down the middle.
“Give this lad chances he will score goals. He is destined to be a superstar. He’s got to keep his feet on the ground, keep working hard, and there’s nothing to stop him.”
