Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland are still Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top two transfer targets and the Manchester United boss has not given up hopes of signing the Borussia Dortmund pair, according to reports.

United failed to land either forward in the last two transfer windows with Solskjaer forced to look at bringing in other options, including Edinson Cavani who arrived on deadline day.

According to ESPN, the Red Devils’ boss was frustrated at the missed opportunities but believes both are perfect for his long-term plan at Old Trafford and remains hopeful of signing both in the future.

Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland remain Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s top two transfer targets

The Manchester United boss is still hopeful of signing the young Borussia Dortmund duo

United were unable to negotiate a deal with Dortmund for Sancho with the German side valuing the winger at £108million.

The Premier League side had no rivals for his signature during the summer window but that could change next season as clubs start to recover from the financial burden of coronavirus.

They were also close to signing Haaland in the January transfer window. Solskjaer met his fellow Norwegian in December and believed he had struck a deal with the then Red Bull Salzburg striker.

United pulled out of a deal to sign Haaland in January which allowed Dortmund to swoop in

The club were not prepared to pay Dortmund’s asking fee of £108m for Sancho this summer

However, the club pulled the plug over agents fees and the inclusion of a release clause, allowing Dortmund to swoop in to sign the forward for £18m.

The Bundesliga side agreed to a £75m release clause but that cannot be activated until 2022.

Since signing for Dortmund, Haaland has gone on to score 21 goals in 23 games.

United made five deadline day signings including Cavani with left back Alex Telles arriving from Porto.

Youngsters Facundo Pellistri and Willy Kambwala were also signed and the club also agreed a deal for Atalanta’s Amad Diallo Traore, who will arrive in January.
