Nuno Espirito Santo says there are “no excuses” for Wolves and he expects a reaction to losing their previous match when his side travel to Brighton on Saturday.
Wolves, who were promoted from the Sky Bet Championship in the summer, were beaten 2-0 at home by Watford last week in what was only their second Premier League defeat of the season.
The club are ninth in the table after nine games – registering four wins – and have held Manchester City and Manchester United to draws.
However, Nuno is challenging his players to push on even further after their impressive start to life back in the top flight.
“It was not a good game [against Watford],” he told a press conference. “Of course, no excuses. We didn’t play good, and it is finished.
“[I expect a] good reaction I think, as ever. Every time after a bad result and a bad performance, we have to bounce back first of all then worry about our tasks, the game plan. The performance is everything.
“I think we have to perform better than we did last season. I think that’s the right mentality to have. We have to improve.”
Wolves are in action against Brighton on Saturday at the Amex Stadium and Seagulls boss Chris Hughton heaped praise on his upcoming opponents on Friday.
When asked about Hughton’s comments, Nuno said: “Chris is a fantastic coach. Especially a gentleman.
“We expect a tough game, Brighton are doing very well and at home they are very strong.
“Good results, good performances. We expect a tough game tomorrow.”
Nuno has the privilege of a fully-fit squad to pick from for the match and was coy when asked if would make any changes to his starting line-up following last week’s defeat.
“Let’s see. We have to make a decision,” he added. “Every player worked very well this week.
“As always, we expect a good squad and a strong eleven.”
