Mikel Arteta has hailed the early impact of Willian at Arsenal following their win over Fulham.
The Gunners snapped up the former Chelsea winger on a free transfer this summer after his contract with their Premier League rivals expired, and it didn’t take him long to settle in.
The 32-year-old set up goals for both Gabriel and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after Alexandre Lacazette had given the away side a deserved lead at Craven Cottage.
Arteta has since opened up on the impact of Willian, and noted that he doesn’t do much talking in the dressing room but already looks to be a valuable asset on the pitch.
“When that happens, some players have a full stomach” said Arteta in reference to Willian’s consistent performances for Chelsea following his move there in 2013.
“With Willie, I got the feeling that he wanted more, that he wanted to do it again with a different club.
“So, I’m really pleased. I think I’ll explain that to some of the players.
“We have a lot of young players with big talent and big futures, but they need role models.
"Willie is a really good one to have around the place, because he doesn’t talk so much in the dressing room, but does his talking on the pitch.”
Arteta also mentioned the fine performance of Gabriel in his review of the victory, who rose highest to head home on his debut for the club.
He said: "Obviously for Willian. He knows the league, the country and is very settled here so I knew his performance would settle straight away.

"For Gabriel it was a big challenge for him today to come in. He hadn't played any football in the last six months and he had a terrific performance."
Before adding: "Ideally I wanted to give him some time because he only trained for a few days with the team and physically hasn't played a competitive match for six months, so obviously it was a risk of injury as well.
"But credit to him, he performed well, physically he felt really good and he was very happy to play."
