Marco Verratti is expected to complete his €45million (£39m) move from Paris Saint-Germain to Qatari side Al-Arabi on Tuesday.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the midfielder landed in Doha on Monday night and will undergo his medical before being formally unveiled as a new Al-Arabi player later today.

The midfielder, who won Euro 2020 with Italy, has been frozen out following Luis Enrique’s arrival at the club earlier this summer and was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

However, neither Al-Hilal nor Al-Ahli could reach an agree with PSG before the Saudi transfer window closed last week.

But the Qatar Stars League’s transfer window is still open, which allowed Al-Arabi to swoop in and seal a deal with the Ligue 1 champions.

Verratti will turn 31 in November and in December last year signed a new four-year deal until the end of the 2025-26 with PSG.

The Italian arrived in the French capital from Serie B side Pescara in the summer of 2012 and has gone on to make 416 appearances for PSG in all competitions, scoring 11 goals.

During his spell in Paris, Verratti has won nine Ligue 1 titles, six French Cups and six French League Cups.

The midfielder has won 55 caps for Italy but was left out of Luciano Spalletti’s squad for the Euro 2024 qualifiers against North Macedonia and Ukraine.

At Al-Arabi, Verratti will be reunited with former PSG teammates Rafinha and Abdou Diallo, who swapped France for Qatar last year and this summer respectively.

PSG, who are owned by Qatar Sports Investments, have also sold Neymar and Georginio Wijnaldum to Saudi Arabian clubs this summer.

Once Verratti’s is complete, the Ligue 1 champions will have received £166m this summer, with £144m coming from Qatari and Saudi clubs.
