Manchester United transfer news LIVE: Jadon Sancho, Amad Diallo, Moises Caicedo latest

Manchester United have money available should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer choose to spend it in the January transfer window.

The Red Devils find themselves in the thick of the Premier League title race after a dramatic upturn in form over the last month. They currently sit joint-top of the Premier League with rivals Liverpool after the hard-fought win over Aston Villa on Friday night. Solskjaer has endured another up and down campaign with the exit from the Champions League last month particularly disappointing. But with domestic fortunes back on the rise there is reason to be optimistic again at Old Trafford.

That optimism could lead to a busier January than was once expected with money available should the right target or targets reveal themselves. Ecuadorean midfielder Moises Caicedo is one such name with the Red Devils understood to be interested. Summer signing Amad Diallo could join him in Manchester this month with his paperwork finally set to be resolved. Serie A side Atalanta were keen to keep hold of him until the summer but the suggestion is he could be on his way to bolster Solskjaer’s title challengers imminently.

There will likely be exits this month too with the likes of Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones possible outgoings. Midfielder Jesse Lingard won’t be one of them, however, after seeing a one-year extension option in his contract triggered last week.

We will have all the latest Manchester United news, rumours and gossip – on both comings and goings – throughout the day.

HAALAND NEW TARGET FOR UNITED

Manchester United have reportedly made signing Erling Haaland their top transfer priority for this year.

The Mirror claims Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a fan of the Borussia Dortmund forward, who he helped to nurture when the pair were both at Molde.

Haaland excelled for Dortmund last term scoring 16 goals in 18 games across all competitions and would be a cheaper option for the Red Devils who are also interested in Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho.

United could activate Haaland’s £70million release clause in the summer with the German side unwilling to let Sancho go for less than £108million.

DIALLO ON THE WAY

Manchester United could complete the move for Amad Diallo as early as this week.

According to the Manchester Evening News the club are finalising the paperwork for Diallo’s work permit and have secured the 18-year-old a governing body endorsement.

Players must obtain a GBE from the Football Association before they can play for their new club.

Diallo has flown to Rome to complete the final round of his paperwork, which is believed to relate to a visa. Once that is sorted he’ll be on his way to Manchester.

SOLSKJAER PREPARING TO SHIFT SIX PLAYERS

The Sun is reporting that Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is preapred to offload up to six players in the January transfer window to trim down his current squad.

Sergio Romero, Marcos Rojo and Phil Jones have all been linked with permenant transfers with Jesse Lingard and Daniel James targeting loan deals.

Left-back Brandon Williams has also been linked with a move away from Old Trafford with Southampton and Bayer Leverkusen both in the race for the 20-year-old.
