Declan Rice: Manchester United and Chelsea target profiled
Manchester United are reportedly monitoring Bayern Munich star Leon Goretzka due to the German giants’ interest in Declan Rice. Erik ten Hag is expected to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea this summer. But with Fred and Scott McTominay potentially set to leave, more than one midfielder may arrive at Old Trafford.
Manchester United signed Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern back in January, with the Austria international proceeding to make 15 appearances for the club.
But journalist Sky journalist Florian Plettenberg, writing on Twitter, has claimed Goretzka is now in their sights.
And it’s also said that Rice is driving the club’s interest in the Bayern star due to issues behind the scenes.
“#Goretzka: ManUtd is monitoring his situation!” he said.
“#MUFC is aware of the fact that his future his uncertain because of #Rice.
“But no concrete talks or negotiations yet. Goretzka is staying calm and his position is clear: He definitely wants to stay as he identifies 100 per cent with FC Bayern! And: Rummenigge supports him.”

United appear to have their work cut out when it comes to signing Goretzka.
And with Sabitzer expected to return to Bayern following an underwhelming stint, the Red Devils could do with sttehgtening in the middle of the park.
What’s more, the futures of both McTominay and Fred are up in the air.
McTominay impressed off the bench as United lost the FA Cup final 2-1 to Manchester City on Saturday and is the club’s youngest senior midfielder.
The Scotland international has often blown hot and cold, however, with Casemiro ahead of him in the pecking order.
Newcastle and West Ham are showing interest, though a swap deal with the Hammers involving Rice doesn’t appear to be an option.

And Fred, speaking after the City defeat, admitted he could leave by saying: “I still don’t know, I have to talk with my family.
“I still have one year left on my contract here. Now it’s holiday time and a good opportunity to rest.
“I’ll talk to my staff, to the club and see what everyone’s decision is.
“I do have to talk with Ten Hag as well. He’s the manager and the conversation has to involve everyone. We have to see how next season will plan out.
“I want to be important, I want to help the team, so we’ll see. But I’ve always been and still am very happy at Manchester United.

“Of course I always want to be playing, to be helping my team, and gladly I started the final and I think we played well.”
One midfielder United are confident of signing is Mount.
Chelsea had hoped to tie their academy graduate down to a new contract, despite a difficult year at Stamford Bridge.
But Mount now looks set to leave and United are leading Liverpool and Arsenal in the race for the 24-year-old.
The Red Devils also want a striker this summer, with Wout Weghorst also not expected to join on a permanent basis.
Harry Kane is the club’s leading target, though Tottenham don’t want to sell their talisman to a direct rival.
United have interest in Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund, who has drawn comparisons with Erling Haaland for his exploits in Italy this term.
And Randal Kolo Muani, Dusan Vlahovic, Victor Osimhen and Goncalo Ramos are all options for the club as well.
Regarding United’s relationship with Bayern, they’ve signed three players from the German giants over the past 16 years.
Owen Hargreaves moved in 2007, though struggled with injuries before leaving on a free transfer for Manchester City four years later.
Bastian Schweinsteiger touched down from the Allianz Arena from Bayern in 2015.
And United then drafted in Sabitzer in January, with the midfielder’s long-term future now uncertain.
