Hakan Calhanoglu has a ‘proposal’ to join Manchester United this summer, according to reports in Italy. The 27-year-old’s time at AC Milan appears to be over, with no contract renewal in sight. And that means he’s entitled to leave the San Siro for free in the upcoming transfer window.
Calhanoglu helped AC Milan secure Champions League football this season, with the Italian giants finishing second in the Serie A table.
That represents a big step forward for Stefano Pioli’s side, though they did have to watch on as fierce rivals Inter Milan ended their 11-year wait for the Scudetto.
The Turkey international did well enough in Serie A this term, scoring four goals and registering nine assists across all competitions.
And, now, Tuttomercatoweb say he’s got an offer to join United this summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are well-stocked for playmakers, with Bruno Fernandes, Donny van de Beek, Paul Pogba and Juan Mata all capable of playing in the No 10 position.
But Calhanoglu, as a free transfer, could definitely appeal.

It is stated, however, that Solskjaer’s side aren’t the only team in the frame to sign the Milan star.
Juventus are also lurking, with Massimiliano Allegri determined to get his second stint in charge of the Old Lady off to a flying start.
With Cristiano Ronaldo potentially poised to leave the club behind, the fallen giants are on the lookout for attacking reinforcements.
Finances are strained, too, with Juventus severely impacted by the coronavirus crisis.
And it seems like a tug of war is on the cards, though Calhanoglu isn’t the only player on United’s transfer wishlist.

Their main target is Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho, who remains a target despite the club missing out in last summer’s transfer window.
Ronaldo is also in their sights, with talk of a Hollywood return to his old employers starting to gather momentum.
For midfield, United are keeping tabs on West Ham star Declan Rice – though Chelsea are also in the picture to sign the England international.
And, at centre-back, the likes of Pau Torres and Real Madrid are also being eyed.
Speaking after United’s recent Europa League final loss to Villarreal, Luke Chadwick warned the Red Devils against making the same mistakes of last summer when it comes to potential additions.
“I think it’s imperative that someone comes in early, and a big-name signing as well,” Chadwick told CaughtOffside.
“Obviously there’s a huge disappointment from the fanbase after the defeat last night.
“I know Ole’s won a lot of the fans over, but there’s going to be huge pressure because it’s another trophyless season.
“I think you can appease fans a lot if a Kane, or a Haaland, or a Sancho came in in the next few weeks, just showing that they’re serious about strengthening and doing so quickly.
“It was such a merry-go-round last summer, Sancho was kind of on and off, and then Telles and Cavani came in late doors, so I think it’s important that the planning around the off-season, the recruitment, is all in place and they’re ready to go early.”
Chadwick also acknowledged Liverpool’s speed at signing Ibrahima Konate, adding: “Liverpool’s season’s finished, whereas United only finished last night.
“Obviously Liverpool have moved quickly at the end of their season and now hopefully United can do the same.
“I wouldn’t say I’m massively disappointed, obviously he (Konate) is a talented boy, but I’m sure the planning has gone on at Man United after the criticism of how the last off-season went.
“I was very impressed with Pau Torres. Villarreal were very defensively sound.
“United have a lot of attacking threats but they didn’t really come to the fore last night, and that was down to the way Villarreal defended as a unit, and individuals.
“He looks a top defender and it will be interesting to see if United do go for him.”
