Manchester United will be paying “close attention” to Liverpool’s Champions League clash against Real Madrid – because of a transfer plan.
The Red Devils are already starting to put together their recruitment strategy for the new season, prioritising a centre-back and centre-forward.
But it has not stopped them expressing an interest in Los Blancos midfielder Lucas Vazquez.
The Spaniard has been playing this season across the right wing in a variety of positions, leading to a reported “four year” contract offer.
And Spanish outlet Defensa Central have reported that United will be keeping an eye on his next game.
Vazquez is expected to play a part in Madrid’s Champions League quarter-final clash against Liverpool, with the first leg on Tuesday.
With his versatility expected to be on show at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano, it will see Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his team “closely watch” the Spaniard.
While the player, whose future is “up in the air”, reportedly wants to use the two-legged European fixture to “make a good impression”.
Vazquez is a favourite for manager Zinedine Zidane, leading to the offer of a contract extension in Spain.
But the 29-year-old has not yet agreed to sign the deal, with United making him a “better offer”, according to ABC.
And the report states that the Madrid star has not ruled anything out concerning his future – which appears to be pointing towards the Premier League.
Vazquez has been at the Bernabeu since 2007, working his way up the academy and featuring in the famous Castilla reserve side 92 times.
