Manchester United are sweating over updates on Rasmus Hojlund and Christian Eriksen after the injured pair pulled out of the Denmark squad for the final international break of the year. The Red Devils duo have withdrawn from international duty after they were both forced off during the 1-0 win over Luton Town on Saturday, with United boss Erik ten Hag left with an anxious wait to discover the extent of their respective injury problems.
Hojlund failed to score again for United in his eight appearance of the season after two gilt-edged chances and his miserable afternoon at Old Trafford was brought to a premature end when he pulled up with a leg injury.
The 20-year-old could be seen holding his hamstring, suggesting he had may have suffered a muscle strain, and that could keep him sidelined for at least the next two weeks. Midfielder Eriksen, 32, appeared to have taken a knock to his knee after a collision and he was replaced before the half-time break by Mason Mount.
In a statement released on Monday, Denmark revealed that neither player will be available for the Euro 2024 qualifiers with Slovenia and Northern Ireland and have subsequently pulled out of the squad. Napoli winger Jesper Lindstrom and Jens Stryger Larsen of Trabzonspor have been called up in their places instead.

It read: “Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund have both been injured and unfortunately have to cancel the upcoming games.
“National coach Kasper Hjulmand has instead selected Jesper Lindstrom and Jens Stryger Larsen for the decisive qualifying matches. A very good recovery for the United duo and a big welcome to the squad for Jobbe and Stryger.”
The loss of Hojlund will leave Ten Hag in a difficult position if his absence stretches further beyond the two-week break. United travel to Goodison Park next to face Everton in 12 days’ time before making the tough trip to Turkey on November 29 for their make-or-break clash with Galatasaray in the Champions League.

Given that Hojlund has scored five of their nine goals in Europe this season, his absence would prove to be a huge blow. Anthony Martial is the only other recognised striker at the club and the Frenchman is yet to find the net in 13 appearances across the Premier League and continental competition.
Ten Hag is already facing something of a crisis with his injury list lengthening with every game, and losing Hojlund and Eriksen will only add to his worries.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka was forced to miss the Luton game through illness, although he should be fit enough to return for their next fixture. But Jonny Evans has after picked up a thigh strain, with the veteran defender set for at least a couple of weeks on the sidelines.
He joins Casemiro, Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia and Amad on the absentees list, while Jadon Sancho remains unavailable for selection.
