Man Utd supporters sent Glazers reminder as Ibrahimovic pins blame elsewhere

Zlatan Ibrahimovic gives his opinion on Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has backed the Glazers despite the growing tension between Manchester United supporters and their owners. The former Red Devils striker doesn’t believe the Glazers are entirely to blame for United’s decline and insists that many of the criticisms are unfounded as the Americans are “investing money” and bringing in the players Erik ten Hag needs.

“I think now in the United, I don’t know, there are some kind of demonstrations about the owners to sell it and that,” he said during a recent appearance on TalkTV’s Piers Morgan Uncensored. “But just a reminder, the owners are investing, it is not like they are not investing because they brought in many players for a high amount of money.

“So, I think it’s a little bit wrong saying that they are not doing what the fans expect them to do, then I don’t know what the real reason is behind everything.”

Ibrahimovic was not so forgiving when he spoke of Ten Hag. The Swedish superstar claims United’s head coach is running out of time and needs to turn things around quickly if he hopes to keep his job after a laboured start to his second campaign in charge.

“How much time do you give a coach?” he added. “It depends on the owners, what they want. But if you listen to the fans, you don’t have a lot of time because they want to win, and I understand them because they are used to winning and they want to still win.”

United are currently sitting in 10th place in the Premier League table having only won three of their opening seven games. Meanwhile, things are even worse in Europe where the Red Devils are still searching for their first Champions League win following losses to Bayern Munich and Galatasaray.

Fallings out with Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo have led many to question whether Ten Hag is cut out to manage a dressing room full of superstars. Ibrahimovic is concerned this is the case as he explained the unique differences between United and Ten Hag’s former club Ajax.

“Coming from Ajax to United as he did is a big difference — I have been in both clubs. You have a different kind of discipline. Ajax is a talented club. They have the best talents in the club. They don’t have big stars,” he continued.

“What is the experience of this coach? Young talents, he comes to United, it is a different mentality. The players there are supposed to be big stars. I don’t think you give the same treatment.”
