Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been fined £600 and handed six points on his driving licence after he was clocked going 104mph during lockdown.

The Manchester United star was stopped by police back in April, after his £90,000 G-wagon Mercedes was caught going more than 30mph over the national limit.

The 22-year-old, who joined Untied from Crystal Palace last year, was handed the fine and penalty points by magistrates in Bromley.

“The vehicle was travelling away from me at a speed I estimated to be in excess of (70mph),” PC Geoffrey Green said in a statement.

The officer said he had used a speed gun and showed Wan-Bissaka travelling at 104mph when he was pulled over.

Details from court papers show that he was caught out on the M1 Southbound, at just before 8pm on April 1, less than a month after lockdown measures were implemented.

PC Green also confirmed that Wan-Bissaka wasn’t alone in the car at the time of the offence, confirming there were “passengers in the vehicle”.

It was claimed that the United defender made no comment at the time of his police caution and after being told he would be reported for a speeding prosecution.

He subsequently pleaded guilty to the charge by writing, before being dealt with last month under the single justice procedure.

Wan-Bissaka was also ordered to pay £160 in costs and fees, following September’s trial.

The right-back is currently training with his club side at Carrington as one of the few players not on international duty.

As well as being eligible for England, he is said to be considering a call-up for DR Congo, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Reece James, Kyle Walker and Kieran Tripper all ahead of him in Gareth Southgate’s pecking order.
