Manchester United have reportedly sent scouts to watch RB Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko ahead of a potential summer transfer.
Sesko, 19, currently plays for the Austrian champions but has already agreed to join sister club RB Leipzig at the end of the season. It will see the Slovenian international sign a five-year deal which will keep him at the club until 2028.
But the striker’s performances this season have also caught the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs, having netted nine goals in 19 league games, including a seven-minute hat-trick on Sunday.

And United, who were reported in January to have Sesko on their three-man shortlist for a new striker, remain interested in signing the forward despite his impending move to Germany.
ESPN claimed that Sesko was being considered by Erik ten Hag along with Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen. The report said United have the potential to 'buy out’ Leipzig’s already agreed deal for Sesko with a higher fee.
According to 90min, United have now taken the next step in signing the player by sending scouts to watch Sesko against Rapid Vienna on the weekend. There, they were joined by scouts from Spurs, Inter Milan and Leeds.

United will be eager not to lose out on another upcoming Salzburg wonderkid, having missed the chance to sign Erling Haaland when the striker played in Austria. Haaland opted to snub United for Dortmund, where he went on to become the global star he is today.
The Norwegian scored a staggering 86 goals in 89 matches for Dortmund. And Sesko himself has suggested he is an upgrade on the Manchester City goal machine.
He told Goal: "My team-mates at the club [Salzburg] tell me that Haaland and I are very similar, especially in terms of speed. Most of them even tell me that I'm better than him!
"Such comparisons motivate me and give me energy. They do not represent pressure. I will listen and learn so I can be even better than he is."
Those comments indicate why United are so eager to bring the youngster to Old Trafford.
Any similarities with Haaland would make Sesko a valuable addition, given the Norwegian ace has already netted 27 league goals for rivals City and is set to break the record for a single Premier League season by May.
