Onana enduring sluggish start to Manchester United career
Manchester United are reportedly “ready to spend big” on Serge Gnabry. The Reds Devils are light on wingers at the moment with Jadon Sancho recently being banished from the first team after a falling out with Erik ten Hag while Antony was given a leave of absence to address a number of allegations of violence against women.
According to reports carried by Football 365, Man Utd are looking to explore a potential deal to bring the Bayern Munich forward back to the Premier League following spells at Arsenal and West Brom. Real Madrid are also understood to be keen on acquiring the 28-year-old’s services with the report claiming that bringing Gnabry to the Santiago Bernabeu is one of club president Florentino Perez’s “greatest wishes”.
Despite recent financial concerns, Man Utd are said to be willing to pay over the odds for him and have no problem “squandering large fortunes to reinforce Ten Hag’s squad”. In July, UEFA’s Club Financial Control Body fined Man Utd £256,744 for a “minor breakeven deficit” which led the Red Devils to spend cautiously in the summer.
But providing they remain in the green by the end of the calendar year they will have more room to breathe during the January transfer window.
Man Utd are reportedly preparing a £43.3million (50 million euro) bid for Gnabry, who is valued at roughly the same amount. Gnabry recently extended his contract at the Allianz Arena until 2026 but United are hoping to cut his stay short.
Heading into the summer transfer window Gnabry faced an uncertain future with only a year remaining on his deal. Man Utd were among a long list of teams including Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal who had all enquired about him.

However, he would put pen to paper on a fresh deal with Bayern in July putting an end to the speculation. Yet it appears United aren’t willing to give up so easily despite Gnabry insisting he is committed to playing for the Bavarian giants.
Upon signing his contract, Gnabry told Bayern club media: “I thought a lot about what I wanted as a player for the next few years – and came to the conclusion: I want to stay at Bayern, win everything here again and experience something – above all the Champions League again.
“Celebrating titles, but this time with our fans. It’s something special because I can play here with my friends at the highest level. I certainly wouldn’t experience that at any other club. I want to experience great moments here again – and not somewhere else. The hunger for big titles doesn’t go away.”
