Man Utd pinpoint Neymar alternative, Arsenal eye freebie, Chelsea exit looms

Ten Hag gives Man Utd team news update for Bournemouth trip

As the Premier League season draws to a close, teams big and small are already plotting a plan of attack for the summer transfer window, which is set to open in less than a month. Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are expected to be particularly busy as they attempt to claw back the gap to Manchester City and Arsenal.

With the league campaign scheduled to conclude this coming weekend, the fate of the title race has already been decided, with Man City building up an unassailable lead over the Gunners in double-quick time.

Liverpool, meanwhile, need a miracle to stop Man Utd and Newcastle making the top four, but the relegation battle is still very much alive and kicking as the final day approaches. With time ticking on towards the start of the window, plans are starting to take shape across the division.

Chelsea exit looms

Chelsea are expected to auction off a host of peripheral stars this summer, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek could be one of the first to make a hasty retreat from Stamford Bridge.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, AC Milan have made him a ‘top target’ and talks continue behind the scenes to try and thrash out a deal.

If the 27-year-old leaves, it is likely to be on a permanent deal, which would call time on Loftus-Cheek’s lengthy stint in west London, having joined the club’s academy as a schoolboy.

Arsenal eye freebie

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has stung Pep Guardiola before, signing Manchester City duo Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko last summer.

He could do so again at the end of the season, with The Athletic claiming that the Gunners hold a ‘concrete interest’ in Ilkay Gundogan.

And City may be powerless to prevent the move happening, given that the German is set to be out of contract in a few weeks’ time.

Arteta supposedly views Gundogan as the perfect replacement for Granit Xhaka, who is closing in on a move to Bayer Leverkusen.

Man Utd’s Neymar alternative

While reports from France indicate that United have initiated talks for Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar, others have refuted the claims.

In any case, the Brazilian would command a massive transfer fee and extortionate wages, which may not appeal to every Red Devils supporter.

It’s just as well that they have spied another exciting winger, then, with The Athletic claiming that Mohammed Kudus is in the crosshairs.

The Ajax star is expected to leave Amsterdam this summer and could be available for just £40million, but Arsenal and Newcastle are also believed to be keeping tabs.
