Man Utd missing two key stars for Newcastle clash but Alex Telles debut expected

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could hand Alex Telles his debut against Newcastle but Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial will not be involved.

United travel to the Magpies on Saturday evening as the Premier League returns after the international break.

The Red Devils will hope to get back to winning ways having been thrashed 6-1 by Tottenham in their last match.

Anthony Martial was sent off in that game as he raised his hands to Erik Lamela, and the Frenchman is now suspended for the trip to Newcastle.

He won’t be the only United star to miss out with new signing Edinson Cavani still in self-isolation in line with Covid-19 regulations.

While one deadline day arrival in Cavani will miss the clash, another in Telles could be given his debut.

Telles arrived from Porto and could slot straight in at left-back with Solskjaer having been keen to strengthen that area.

The Brazilian signed a four-year deal with United paying around £17m for his services.

"First and foremost, I welcome Alex to United," Solskjaer said. "He is a player we have been tracking for some time and his performances over the past few years are exactly what we are looking for.

"He is a fighter and a winner and will add real determination and competition to the squad.

"Alex has the qualities, both as a player and as a person, that we want here at Manchester United."

While Telles himself said: "To join a club with the prestige of Manchester United is a huge honour.
