Mason Mount dresses up as Spiderman with a football
Manchester United view a double deal for Mason Mount and Declan Rice as difficult this summer, according to reports. Erik ten Hag is keen to bolster his midfield, despite landing Casemiro and Christian Eriksen 12 months ago. Fred and Scott McTominay could leave the club, while Donny van de Beek’s long-term future remains up in the air.
According to the Daily Mail, United are growing increasingly confident of signing Mount from Chelsea.
The Red Devils are hoping to capitalise on the 24-year-old’s contract situation at Stamford Bridge, with the midfielder having just a year left.
United have previously signed Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic from Chelsea over the past decade under David Moyes and Jose Mourinho respectively.
And Mount looks poised to follow, with the England international coy on his future when asked at the F1 Spanish Grand Prix.
The Chelsea star is childhood friends with Rice, who has dazzled amid West Ham’s charge to the UEFA Conference League final.

But United feel a double deal will be tricky this summer de to the finances involved for ‘everything they want’.
A new striker is also on the agenda at Old Trafford.
Harry Kane is their leading target, with Rasmus Hojlund viewed as a potential alternative following a fine season at Atalanta in Italy.
But the Red Devils have contingency plans in place should they miss out, with Ten Hag eager to land an upgrade on Anthony Martial.
The club have revisited interest in Randal Kolo Muani, despite Bayern Munich appearing to be the frontrunners in the race for the Eintracht Frankfurt star.

And United have also looked at Goncalo Ramos again, too.
Ramos impressed for Portugal at the World Cup in Qatar and fired Benfica to the Primeira Liga title this season.
It’s also claimed United players had a party on Saturday night despite losing 2-1 to Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
Staff, players and families enjoyed a night at the Langham Hotel in London, with Richard Arnold then proclaiming his love for Erik ten Hag.
Ten Hag then made clear in front of the room that the Red Devils must be competitive to win trophies.

Meanwhile, United have also been linked with Neymar.
The Brazil international could leave Paris Saint-Germain after another injury-plagued year in France.
But former Sunderland, Tottenham and Charlton striker Darren Bent feels Mount would be a better signing for Ten Hag’s side instead.
“Even though Neymar is a better player, I think Mason Mount would be a better fit in and around the dressing room, never gives you any problems,” he said.
“You know exactly what you’re getting, you don’t have to worry on a Friday night, ‘is my phone going to ring?’ because Mason Mount is in trouble again.
“You don’t have to worry about any of that because he’s a model professional.
“People that I know that know him and watching him at Derby, he’s always trying to make himself better, always available, he’s got good character, got good nature.”
He continued: “I think he gets into any top team’s squad.
“I’m not saying he starts for every team because I don’t think he does, but I think at a better price.
“Because I’m not paying £80m for no player with one year left on his contract – especially in a season where they have got three goals.”
