Man Utd were ‘hours’ away from losing transfer target to Liverpool after Jurgen Klopp chat
Manchester United winger Antony will return to training and is available for selection the club has confirmed. The Brazil international is under investigation by Greater Manchester Police and authorities in his home country over allegations of domestic abuse and physical aggression made by a former girlfriend.
Antony, who has cooperated with police inquiries in both countries and met with GMP yesterday, denies the allegations made. He has not been arrested or charged in either country.
While United conceded the situation will be kept “under review” they have announced they will welcome him back to training at Carrington. The 23-year-old has not played for United or Brazil since the defeat at Arsenal on September 3.
The club confirmed he will not train today and will not be involved against Crystal Palace tomorrow but could be involved in the Champions League against Galatasaray next Tuesday.
“As Antony’s employer, Manchester United has decided that he will resume training at Carrington, and be available for selection while police inquiries proceed,” said a statement. “This will be kept under review pending further developments in the case.

“As a club we condemn acts of violence and abuse. We recognise the importance of safeguarding all those involved in this situation, and acknowledge the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse.”
Antony, 23, has been accused of physical aggression on a number of occasions since January towards his former girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin. In June, Antony released a statement on Instagram saying he had been falsely accused by Ms Cavallin of committing domestic violence.
The winger restated his confidence that he will clear his name earlier this month insisting he “trusts ongoing police investigations” to reveal the “truth about my innocence”.

“I can say with confidence that accusations are false and that the evidence already produced show that I am innocent of the accusations made,” he said on social media.
“My relationship with Ms Gabriela was tumultuous, with verbal offences from both sides, but I never practised any physical aggression. I trust that the ongoing police investigations will demonstrate the truth about my innocence.”
Antony will not feature against Palace in the Premier League on Saturday. The Red Devils face the South Londoners for the second time in a week having beaten them 3-0 in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
