Man Utd train ahead of Bayern Munich clash
Senior figures at Manchester United would be willing to take a hefty financial hit on Jadon Sancho in order to get him out of the club, according to reports. The out-of-favour winger is believed to have turned his nose up at the chance to reintegrate with the squad by refusing an in-person apology to Erik ten Hag.
Sancho’s Man Utd career hit a new low earlier this month when he was left out of the matchday squad against Arsenal on account of his training performances. Ten Hag had no issues revealing as much to the media, prompting an angry reaction from the 23-year-old on social media.
Unsurprisingly the statement, which included Sancho admitting to being ‘fed up’ at being made a ‘scapegoat’, did not go down well with the United boss. The former Borussia Dortmund star has subsequently been made to train away from the first team.
According to The Daily Star, Sancho would be welcomed back into the fold if he delivered a face-to-face apology to Ten Hag, but the player has refused.

The same report indicates that Red Devils bosses would be prepared to sanction Sancho’s departure in an effort to draw a line under the situation. United shelled out a whopping £73million to bring him in from BVB back in 2021.
After putting together a measly haul of 12 goals in 82 appearances, United are unlikely to recoup anywhere near that fee if they make an effort to offload Sancho in the January transfer window.

The youngster is currently going through the motions on his own at United’s Carrington training base. Before the bust-up with Ten Hag unfolded, Sancho had made three substitute appearances in the Premier League this term, amounting to just 77 minutes of first-team action.
The Red Devils have made a torrid start to 2023/24, losing three of their opening five league games for the first time in the Premier League era. They were also defeated 4-3 by Bayern Munich on Wednesday night to begin their Champions League campaign with a defeat.
“I am disappointed because when you score three goals in Munich, at the least you have to take a point and we didn’t,” Ten Hag said after the game. “And you have to look in the mirror because the goals were easy giveaways.
“We were, in the first 25 minutes, better than Munich, and then that goal – it was so easy and it was not only Andre [Onana’s mistake]. If you see how easy [Leroy] Sane is going through… and that has to do with determination, you don’t let players through so easy.”
