Luis Diaz ‘really happy’ after receiving news of his father’s release
Liverpool have already made it clear that Luis Diaz is not for sale amid links to Barcelona. Diaz’s father Luis Manuel Diaz drummed up speculation when discussing the prospect of a move to Spain shortly after being released by his kidnappers.
Speaking during a recent interview with Colombian television programme Noticias RCN, he admitted that it is his son’s “dream” to play for Barcelona having supported the club since he was a child. “The truth is, at this moment I know very little about Barcelona,” he said.
“It is true that Luis [Diaz] is a faithful follower of Barcelona and it would be his dream to get there. Until now, I would like to thank Porto and Liverpool for the way in which they welcomed him and received him.
“Luis is an easy player to win over because of his way of being, his humility, his work, he is a very disciplined player, thank God. There would be no problem if Luis came to Barcelona because it is an elite team and is among the best in the world.”
However, the Reds are not open to letting the 26-year-old go. During the summer transfer window, they turned down a bid from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal said to be worth around £43.3m and Barca are expected to receive a similar response if they come calling.
Diaz’s contract at Anfield runs until 2027 while Liverpool reportedly value their star winger much higher than the money Al-Hilal put on the table for him before the start of this season.

According to the Athletic, Liverpool have no interest in selling one of their key attacking players and there has been no indication that Diaz is pushing for a move away at this stage in his career.
Yet DSports claim that Liverpool are expecting an offer from the Catalonians at some point. The report goes on to claim that Barcelona club president Joan Laporta wanted to bring in Diaz before he joined Liverpool, but the numbers didn’t work.
